Despite official rhetoric about focusing on violent criminals, the overwhelming majority (65%) of people booked by ICE this year have no record of criminal convictions, nor of violence (93%). The libertarian think-tank CATO Institute examined US Custom & Border Patrol data from January 12 to June 14 and note that roaming the streets and workplaces to apprehend immigrants not only increased dramatically, the manner it has done so is "indiscriminate, unfocused, and chaotic."
